Brian Williams was born and raised in Fort Scott.  He attended Kansas State University and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelors in Science in Electrical Engineering.  Brian believes that every resource given from God be stretched and utilized as effectively as possible so that the church can fulfill its mission.  We must be sure that we follow God's direction on how every penny is spent and how every person is equipped to serve. He has been with Cornerstone since its beginning in April of 2010.  Brian’s hope for Cornerstone is that it will be church after the heart of God.  His vision is for the church to be place where lives are constantly being changed in the service, after the service, and throughout the work week.  Cornerstone is a group of people who wants to disciple children, youth, singles, adults, families, and everyone else in Fort Scott.  Brian is married to Terri and they have three grown children.

I studied the piano privately for 18 years prior to going to college.
I have a General Studies Degree with a major in music and emphasis in piano performance from FSCC.   I have an Applied Science Degree in Administrative Business From FSCC both with post graduate studies at Pittsburg State University.  And a medical office assistant certificate from FSCC

I came to Christ at the age of 10 and knew I wanted to go into music ministry.  I started piano lessons at age 5, and playing for our church starting at age 13.  I can't imagine life with out Christ and music in it.

My hope is to put aside my will and to seek God's will and His alone through studying His word and striving to know Him.

Music is a critical part of the service.  I hope people can not only enjoy singing it but learn from the scripture and message in cased within it.

Ezekiel 28:13 KJV says that Satan had musical instruments built into him during his creation (tabrets and pipes).  This would indicate that he has knowledge of music.  Its no wonder that a large portion of music in the world today is evil.  Being that Satan is cunning, (after all he convinced a third of the Angels to follow him)  he will use any means to drag us down.   We need to combat that with good Christian music that praises His name. Most of all we need to know God through His word.

Music is a large part of scripture.
One of my favorite books is the Psalms.
The Psalms has 150 chapters of Music.  Music that shows all types of honor to God from chapter 51 where David confesses his sin and shows his broken and contrite heart, to chapters 95 and 150 showing vibrant praise to God with stringed instruments, organs, and high sounding cymbals!

Colossians 3:16

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

I have been married to my wonderful wife Amber since 2003 and the Lord blessed us with three great children Emma, Skyler and Kenneth (KW) Goodbody.

Something quirky about me.

I'm probably one of the only people my age who is computer illiterate and has never had Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Instagram or any other of the sort...

Terri was born in Iola Kansas and was raised on a farm in the Blue Mound and Bronson area.  Terri is married to Brian Williams for 34 years and have 3 grown children Haley, Nathan, and Heather. Terri has been an Awana leader for seventeen years and an All Star leader for three years in which she served as a Leader, Director and Commander with children in the Sparks, Chums and JV areas.  She has also taught Sunday School for many years as well as working in VBS.  She has been an Awana Scholarship counselor for five years as well as a counselor for Church Camp and Day Camp.  She has served as Interim Children’s minister at First Baptist Church of Russellville before moving to Kansas. Children's ministry comprises of two separate ministries in themsevles.  The first being the children and the second being the equipping the parents.  Here is Terris has to say:

  1. Our involvement in teaching the children is to show them the wonderful stories of God’s love for us and to encourage them to memorize scripture and hide it in their hearts.  I want them to know that God loves them and has a plan for their lives.
  2. Equipping the parents to help their children since they are the main influence in their spiritual life.  We need to come along side of them and encourage them to make Christ a priority in their daily life.

Terri believes that children are God's precious gifts and must be treated as so. Thus, child safety is taken seriously here and will not be overlooked.

Ida Ford was born in Fort Scott, Kansas to Lee and Rosie McReynolds.  She has 2 brothers and 3 sisters.  She was raised in Redfield and attended Uniontown High School.  She attended Pitt State where she obtained her Paralegal certificate.  She worked in Fort Scott as a Paralegal for 24 years and now is employed at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg as an at home medical transcriptionist.  She married Tom E. Ford and has 2 children and 7 wonderful grandchildren.

Ida became a Christian at the age of 12 and was baptized at the age of 23 in the Uniontown Baptist Church.  When Ida and her husband came to Cornerstone, she was praying that the Lord would use her in some way in his ministry.  Having visited many churches before finding Cornerstone, Ida became aware of what peaked her desire to return.  Bible based sermons being number one, but the feeling of a genuine heart felt welcome became another top priority.  I immediately felt that at Cornerstone.

It is our belief, that each one that walks upon this earth is sacred to God and that it is important to make everyone feel welcome to the Kingdom and share in the amazing experience we are enjoying being a part of the family of God at Cornerstone.

It is our goal that each visitor experience the same warm, heartfelt welcome, that they should feel when they come home.
